Trigger Points

Trigger points (TrPs) are an extremely common source of musculoskeletal pain. Most people, during their life time, become affected by TrPs. Trigger points are of two types, latent and active. Latent TrPs are characterized by motor dysfunction, stiffness and restricted range of motion. They are far more common than active TrPs which in addition, causes pain.

Could my pain be caused by active TrPs?

Many acupuncture points are found in areas of muscle where trigger point develop. Once the trigger points are located, acupuncture is used to “release” the TrPs in the muscle.
